Our goal is to grow a community of young adults who learn, with our help, to be capable of helping their friends, family, and even strangers in their times of need. Project Please Stay isn't a club, it's a movement. We want to spread positivity, hope, and fun in these stressful times when teens are going through so many internal battles.
Hello there! My name is Susannah Swindell and I am a high school student in Kinston, North Carolina. In fall of 2021, my brother was a freshman at UNC-Chapel Hill. When I found out from him that several students (including one who lived in my brother's hall) passed away due to suicide, I wanted to do something to help prevent others from making that difficult decision. Together with friends, who share my passion for promoting suicide prevention, Project Please Stay was formed.
Education
We created an Instagram account to not only share suicide helpline resources but also to educate everyone on the signs/symptoms of depression. We want people to notice others who may be hurting, display empathy, and encourage them to seek help from healthcare professionals.
Project Please Stay T-Shirts
We have designed t-shirts to inspire hope and spread awareness. Chapters are also starting to design their shirts with their powerful messages. All of the net profits from the national chapter go to the National Suicide Lifeline.
Fundraisers
All chapters come up with their own ideas to raise money for mental health resources. We have done bake sales and we are planning other fundraisers as you read this!
